Working Holiday Scheme
The Working Holiday Scheme (WHS) offers an opportunity to young New-Zealanders to visit the Netherlands for a period of up to twelve months with the objective of combining a holiday with work experience. Although New Zealand passport holders do not need a visa to enter the Netherlands it is advisable to apply for a so-called WHS-visa at the Netherlands embassy or at the nearest Netherlands consulate in order to have the administrative procedure after arrival in the Netherlands proceed as smooth as possible.
To qualify for a WHS-visa applicants must comply with the following conditions:
- be a New-Zealand citizen and ordinarily reside in New-Zealand;
- be aged 18 to 30, both inclusive at the time of application
(you must enter the Netherlands and register at the local town hall before you
turn 31;
Applications for participation can be submitted to the Embassy in Wellington or the Consulates in Auckland or Christchurch.
Please submit your application at least 4 weeks prior to your date of
departure, together with the following documents:
application form, fully completed, dated and signed (click on:
MVV Application Form);
- passport photograph;
- your valid passport (for at least 18 months);
- photocopy of air ticket or confirmed itinerary / or proof of funds to purchase one;
- proof of medical insurance;
- an address in the Netherlands including postal code and street number
- self addressed registered envelope (or platinum express envelope) if passport is to be posted back to you.
Successful applicants will be issued a visa (MVV) free of charge by the Netherlands Embassy in New Zealand.
